Major Holway


Major Kimberly A. Holway has served with the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office for over 27 years.  She started her career in the Corrections Division, transferred to the Operations Bureau, and was recently re-assigned back to Corrections.  She is currently serving as Commander of Corrections.  Previous assignments include Patrol Deputy, Community Resource Deputy, Sergeant within Patrol, the Rapid Response Unit, Narcotics Unit, 2nd Lieutenant in Patrol, Assistant Commander of the Ashburn Substation, and, later, Assistant Commander of the Field Operations Division.  She was the first woman to serve on the Loudoun County SWAT team as an operator working her way up to Assistant Team Commander during her 12 years on the team.  She was the first woman firearms and rifle instructor.  She was recognized by the Northern Virginia Criminal Justice Academy for helping create a firearms course designed to assist female sworn law enforcement officers in improving their shooting skills.  Major Holway received her bachelor’s degree in Economics from Duke University and has been living in the Northern Virginia area since 1989.  She moved to Loudoun County in 1995.  She is a passionate Cross Fitter who has competed in the Reebok CrossFit Games five times, winning the Masters gold medal in 2014.
