What are my tax obligations if I am a uniformed member of the Virginia Defense Force residing in Loudoun County?

If you are a uniformed member of the Virginia Defense Force, you may qualify for a reduction in Loudoun County personal property taxes on one of your vehicles. If you would like to request this reduced tax rate, download and complete a Loudoun County Personal Property Alternative Tax Rate For Uniformed Members of the Virginia Defense Force Form, and return it no later than January 31 of the tax year for which you are applying. Certification from the Adjutant General of the Department of Military Affairs must be provided to our office along with the completed form. The certification must state that the applicant is a uniformed member of the Virginia Defense Force who regularly uses a motor vehicle to respond to his official duties, and the vehicle for which the tax rate reduction is sought is the vehicle that is regularly used for that purpose. You may fax the completed form and certification to 703-777-0263, scan and e-mail mail it to cartax@loudoun.gov, or mail it to the address shown on the form.
