Loudoun County, VA (November 4, 2022) –Yesterday, the charge of Conspiracy to Commit First Degree Murder against Abdul Waheed was dismissed by the presiding judge. Waheed was arrested on January 21, 2022, in connection with the heinous murder of 57-year-old Najat Chemlali Goode, at her home on Connie Marie Terrace in Brambleton on December 30, 2021.
“Our detectives, analysts, digital forensics examiners, and crime scene investigators poured their hearts and souls into this investigation, working countless hours to ensure that Najat’s family received justice. The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office provided the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office with a detailed, thorough, and compelling case for trial. We are extremely disappointed with the performance of the Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney, especially regarding such a serious crime, and are heartbroken for her family,” said Sheriff Mike Chapman. “Our community deserves better,” he added.
A second suspect, Furqan Syed, remains held on no bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center, awaiting trial on charges of First-Degree Murder, Burglary with the intent to commit murder, and two counts of Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony. Syed’s trial is currently set to begin in April 2023.
