National Volunteer Week Honors Loudoun's Volunteer First Responders

NVW2022 Newsflash

As proclaimed by the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors, the week of April 17-23, 2022, has been designated as National Volunteer Week in recognition of the hundreds of dedicated volunteer members of the Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System who selflessly donate their time, talent, and energy to serve our community and protect our citizens.

National Volunteer Week was established in 1974 and is an opportunity to honor the impact of all those who perform outstanding service in our communities and inspire others to make a difference and improve the world. It takes a special kind of dedication, a strong desire to help others and a tireless sense of community to forsake precious time with family and friends to respond to a neighbor in need.

These highly trained volunteers, our neighbors, are summoned to a wide array of emergencies across the county every day including fires, emergency medical incidents, natural disasters, hazardous materials incidents, water rescue emergencies, and other public service calls. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to place strain on first responders across the Nation, our volunteer firefighters and EMS personnel have risen to the occasion providing not only critical emergency services but also logistical support for our partners at the Loudoun County Health Department.

“Our community is truly fortunate to be served by our dedicated neighbors and volunteer first responders, who give their time and service, to those in need,” said Fire Chief Keith H. Johnson. “During National Volunteer Week, let us celebrate the profound impact of volunteers and encourage all Americans to discover their own power to make a difference.”

Please join us on social media throughout the week as we recognize the Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System volunteers for their service and dedication to our community.
