On February 2, 2022, a detective with the Leesburg Police Department (LPD) contacted a deputy with the Loudoun County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office regarding a report received by the School Resource Officer assigned to Loudoun County High School. The detective reported that on Friday, January 28, 2022, a third-party student made a report of a potential assault to the school administration.
An LPD detective interviewed the alleged victim and reported the results of his investigation to the Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney. Based on the investigation, and the facts as represented by the detective, it was determined that the contact was consensual. As such, it was agreed that, at this time, there was no evidence of a criminal violation. If the Leesburg Police Department determines that additional facts are discovered or learned that support that a crime has been committed, we will collaborate with them to determine if criminal prosecution is supported by the evidence.
The Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney encourages community members to contact the Leesburg Police Department if they have information regarding this incident.
Please note, the Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney does not have investigatory resources and relies wholly on the law enforcement agencies within Loudoun County and their investigations for the basis of prosecuting criminal offenses in Loudoun County. We are proud of the work they do and support them in their efforts.
