[ARCHIVED] Grab the Popcorn: LCSO Returns to a Theater Near You

Untitled design (9)

Loudoun County, VA – Grab the popcorn! The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) returned to the movies this month for a multiple week recruitment outreach campaign.

The campaign will run a 30-second ad in theaters in Northern Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C., and movie theater style recruitment posters will be placed in several theater lobbies. The theme of the campaign is ‘Hiring Heroes’ and highlights the opportunities within the agency, including over 21 specialty units. The recruitment ad can be viewed here.

“We continue to attract highly qualified applicants who recognize the Loudoun Sheriff’s Office as a premier law enforcement agency and we are looking for the best applicants to be part of our nationally recognized, award-winning team,” said Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman who oversees the largest full-service sheriff’s office in Virginia.

Although the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office saw the largest recruitment class in the history of the agency graduate in June 2019, the LCSO Employment Services Section continues to develop a strong recruitment outreach.

The effort will assist in filling open and newly approved personnel positions created following the most recent budget session, and to help to sustain staffing with upcoming potential retirements and general attrition.

In 2016, the LCSO initiated the ‘Be A Hero’ initiative to boost recruitment and retain the best employees through a continuous STEP-Up strategy of improving Service, Technology, Efficiency, and Professionalism.

Within the past several years, the LCSO has accomplished the following:

• Increased the retirement system multiplier that is competitive with surrounding jurisdictions (1.7% to 1.85%)

• Paid over $1 million in employee recognition incentives and awards since 2016

• Obtained night differentials for sworn employees

• Promoted 189 employees to supervisory/leadership ranks since 2012

• Hired 326 new deputies since 2012

• Enhanced career development opportunities through temporary and permanent assignments

• Engaged with the County in an agency-wide reclassification and compensation study to upgrade both sworn and civilian positions

• Worked with the County and the Board of Supervisors to ensure that all LCSO employees receive an equivalent annual raise

• Achieved reclassification and pay band upgrades for many civilian staff employees

• Encouraged all employees to pursue undergraduate and graduate degrees, and specialized education through county tuition reimbursements

• Mandated, provided, and funded leadership training for all newly promoted supervisors
