Fire Marshal’s Office Make Arrest in Tuesday Morning Vehicle Fire

Leesburg, VA. - At approximately 2:50 a.m. on January 8th, fire and rescue crews from Leesburg were dispatched to 36 Fort Evans Road NE for an auto fire. Firefighters arrived on scene to find a black Nissan Sentra four door sedan engulfed in flames. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire however it spread to two adjacent vehicles resulting in approximately $30,000 in total loss.
A subsequent investigation by the Loudoun County Fire Marshal’s Office revealed the fire was intentionally set by Luis Antonio Navarrete Quijano, a 27 year old Hispanic male. Mr. Quijano has been arrested and charged with one felony count of arson (Code of Virginia § 18.2-81, Burning or Destroying Personal Property) for maliciously setting his own vehicle on fire, and is being held on $2,500 bond.
The Loudoun County Fire Marshal’s Office thanks the continued cooperation from the Leesburg Police Department and the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.
The Loudoun County Fire Marshal’s Office continues to investigate two incendiary auto fires, unrelated to this fire, which occurred in the same apartment complex during the early morning hours of January 3rd.
