Loudoun County, Va.- The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office graduated three members of the agency’s leadership staff from the 40th session of the Virginia Police Chiefs Foundation Professional Executive Leadership School (PELS).
Captain Greg Ahlemann, a 15-year veteran, 1st Lt. Ken Bradley, a 26-year-veteran, and 2nd Lt. Chris Sawyer, an 11-year veteran, graduated last week from the intensive three-week leadership education program.
Captain Ahlemann serves in the Field Operations Division and is the commander of the Western Loudoun Station. 1st Lt. Bradley is currently assigned to the Corrections/Court Services Division and 2nd Lt. Sawyer is currently assigned to the Administrative/Technical Services Division.
“The PELS Program ensures our leadership staff will continue to receive training at the highest levels to continue to improve service, efficiency and professionalism in the agency,” said Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman.
The PELS program is conducted in cooperation with the University of Richmond. This program is designed for individuals who currently serve in command/executive level positions within their agencies. The curriculum is liberal-arts/humanities based and focused on the study of leadership at an advanced level. The objective of this program is to acquaint participants with best practices in leadership, challenge them to reflect upon their own leadership competency, and examine ways of achieving both personal and professional growth.
The classes are held on the campus of the University of Richmond, and faculty members from the University of Richmond in Richmond, Virginia, teach the classes and are drawn from the Robins School of Business, the Management Institute, Jepson School of Leadership Studies, and several other schools within the university.
