Loudoun County, VA- In a continued effort to combat the heroin epidemic impacting the nation, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office has created a toll-free tip-line to allow local residents the ability to anonymously report suspected narcotics activity.
The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, as part of the regional heroin initiative called the Heroin Operations Team (HOT), has expanded the agency’s Narcotics tip-line as a ‘HOT’line for suspected drug activity and drug usage in the county. Loudoun residents are encouraged to call 1-833-HOT-TIPS (1-833-468-8477) with any information regarding narcotics activity.
“Anonymity can be the key to getting drugs off of our streets or getting someone the help that they need,” said Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman. “We want to give residents that outlet and make sure all suspected drug activity is reported,” Sheriff Chapman added.
The Heroin Operations Team was formed in April 2015 after Loudoun Sheriff Chapman joined U.S. Representative Barbara Comstock (VA-10th District) to employ a comprehensive approach to combat the heroin scourge that includes enforcement, education, prevention and recovery by incorporating local, state and federal law enforcement.
As part of these efforts, fatal heroin overdoses have decreased 27% in Loudoun County compared to this same time last year and non-fatal heroin related overdoses have decreased 14% during the same time period.
To report possible narcotics activity, contact the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office Narcotics HOTline by calling 1-833-HOT-TIPS (1-833-468-8477). In an emergency, please call 9-1-1 immediately.
