Leesburg, VA. –Assistant Chief Matthew Tobia of the Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System has successfully completed the process that awards the professional designation of “Chief Fire Officer” (CFO).
On October 10th, the Commission on Professional Credentialing (CPC) designated Chief Tobia as one of only 1,267 CFO’s worldwide. He joins several other Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System personnel who have also attained this certification.
The CPC awards the CFO designation after an individual successfully meets all of the organization’s stringent criteria. The process includes an assessment of the applicant’s education, experience, professional development, technical competencies, contributions to the profession, and community involvement. Using a comprehensive peer review model, candidates are evaluated to ensure that they possess the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities required for the fire and rescue emergency services profession.
“Chief Tobia has an incredible knowledge of the fire and rescue profession, notably combination career and volunteer systems such as what we employ here in Loudoun County. He has far surpassed the critical core competencies for senior fire officer personnel,” said Fire System Chief Keith Brower, Jr. “This designation is testament to the quality of leadership we encourage our personnel to achieve and are looking forward to many more of Chief Tobia’s contributions to the Department.”
Assistant Chief Matthew Tobia oversees Support Services and Volunteer Administration and is responsible for management of volunteer programs, the E 9-1-1 communications system, safety and human resources programs as well as logistics for the system.
