STATUS UPDATE ON INVESTIGATION INTO AUGUST 31, 2016 PEDESTRIAN FATALITY ON RIVERSIDE PARKWAY
The investigation into the death of Tristan Schulz on August 31, 2016 and the surrounding circumstances is on-going. The Loudoun County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office and the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office have been working diligently since the date of the incident to secure any and all information that may be relevant to the investigation.
As required by law, much of the evidence to be collected must be done so via search warrant to the appropriate entities. To date, numerous search warrants have been executed in relation to this incident. Gathering this type of information is largely dependent upon these entities and their ability to timely process and collect the information requested and within the scope of the warrants. As such, an exact date or time frame for when the investigation will conclude cannot be given. Any charging decision prior to the conclusion of the investigation would be premature.
The Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office staff and the Victim-Witness Office has made themselves accessible to the Schulz family during this period and will continue to do so throughout the process. We thank the Schulz family and the public for their patience as we continue to work toward a swift but thorough completion of this investigation.
