Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Recruits Graduate from 126th Session
Loudoun County, VA: The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office welcomed nine new recruits to the agency with one of the recruits taking top academic honors in the 126th session of the Northern Virginia Criminal Justice Academy’s Basic Deputy Sheriff School.
Loudoun recruit Deputy Eric B. Turner earned the Directors Award for the Combined Basic Deputy Sheriff School. This award is based on the highest overall academic score taken from grades achieved in the academic exams, firearms training, and driver training.
A member of the Loudoun Sheriff’s Office also took a leadership role in the 126th session. Deputy Micah J. Torres served as a vice-president during the session.
“We are excited about our new group of recruits and their accomplishments during the 126th session,” said Loudoun Sheriff Michael L. Chapman. “We will continue to expand our recruitment efforts to ensure professionalism and high standards from all of the men and women of the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office,” Chapman added.
The recruits graduated on June 27, 2012, and will be state certified in basic law enforcement, corrections and court security after partaking in a 12-week field training program. The recruits are Derek D. Ater, John D.Chavez, Joshua A. Drahos, Rachel E. Heffner, Steven T. Hood, Michael P. Ramirez, James R. Sullivan, Micah J. Torres and Eric B. Turner.
The 24-week program for deputy sheriff’s and police officers from the Northern Virginia area covered every phase of law enforcement principles and procedures. Participating agencies include Arlington County Police Department, Arlington County Sheriff’s Office, City of Alexandria Police Department, City of Alexandria Office of the Sheriff, City of Fairfax Police Department, City of Falls Church Police Department, City of Falls Church Office of the Sheriff, City of Manassas Police Department, City of Manassas Park Police Department, George Mason University Police Department, Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, Metro Transit Police Department, Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police, Northern Virginia Community College Police Department, Town of Leesburg Police Department, Town of Middleburg Police Department, Town of Purcellville Police Department.
