Loudoun County, VA – The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Work Release Program was the recipient of six bicycles donated by the Loudoun County Bar Association on Wednesday.
The bicycles were donated to assist minimum-security inmates, who are part of the work release program, with transportation to and from work. “Many of the inmates housed at the work release facility often walk to and from work,” said Sheriff Michael L. Chapman. “The donated bicycles, helmets, and taillights will help ensure these inmates can travel safely to and from work,” added Sheriff Chapman.
These minimum-security inmates are housed at the Loudoun County Work Release Facility, located off of Sycolin Road in Leesburg, Va. The facility houses non-violent, minimum-security inmates that are soon to be released back into the community.
The inmates at the facility pay $12 per day for staying at the facility and those in the work release program are released each day to go to and from their jobs with stringent rules and regulations. The money they make helps pay their fines, courts costs, make restitution to victims and support their family. This also eases the burden of financial support to the taxpayer.
