Loudoun County, Virginia- The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office is required to seek the public’s input regarding a request for $31,002.00 in federal funding from the FY 12 Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program Local Solicitation to purchase tactical rifles for the motor program.
The goals of this project are to purchase and equip the Loudoun Sheriff’s Office motor unit with a 5.56mm caliber rifle system that can be safely secured and yet still be rapidly deployed from a Sheriff’s Office motorcycle. The Sheriff’s Office has identified a weapons system along with a storage vault that mounts on the motorcycle that will allow our goals to be met in a timely fashion.
The motor unit currently does not have the ability to carry a rifle while operating their motorcycle nor does the Sheriff’s Office have funding to make this type of enhancement.
