Crews continue construction work on the various structures and features throughout Hal and Berni Hanson Regional Park, currently under construction on Evergreen Mills Road in Arcola. The park project scope includes a splashpad, athletic fields with turf and lighting, buildings, paths and more. When completed, the park will feature 17 lighted athletic fields, including two artificial turf fields and one cricket pitch; five ponds; the historic Hanson House; an event lodge; a nature center; a skate plaza and disc golf course; a splash pad and playground with inclusive features and over 75 acres of passive recreational space.
Construction of the structures throughout the park currently includes the installation of storefronts, ceiling tile, drywall, overhead coiling doors, and fire protection. Crews are also starting up mechanical equipment and installing interior finishes, like ceramic tile, flooring, plumbing fixtures, lighting fixtures, and paint. At Hanson House, crews are installing interior finishes, electrical trim (including switches and outlets), and mechanical equipment.
Crews also continue to construct turn lane entrances on Evergreens Mills Road, including the construction of traffics and concrete sidewalk. Ongoing work throughout the park includes earthwork and the installation of underground utilities, electrical systems, sports netting, concrete, and the construction of dugouts.
The Hal and Berni Hanson Regional Park project includes the design and construction of a new 257-acre regional park located on Evergreen Mills Road in Arcola, between the Brambleton and Willowsford communities. The park will be operated by the Loudoun County Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS). Construction is estimated for completion in spring (May/June) of 2022. Furniture and equipment will then be installed and PRCS will begin getting the park ready for its opening.
