Loudoun County Update
- Help Keep Omicron Out of Loudoun: Health officials say the best way to prevent the newly identified Omicron variant or other new COVID-19 variants from impacting Loudoun and to help curb the increase in COVID-19 cases that the county has been experiencing is to follow proven prevention strategies:
- Everyone age 5 and older who has not already received a COVID-19 vaccination is encouraged to get vaccinated as soon as possible. Find information on how to schedule an appointment at the Loudoun County vaccination site at loudoun.gov/covid19vaccine. Find other locations at vaccines.gov.
- Wear a mask in indoor public settings.
- Stay 6 feet away from people who do not live in your household.
- Cover your coughs and sneezes.
- Wash your hands frequently.
- Stay home when sick.
- Avoid contact with sick people.
- Know the signs and symptoms of COVID-19 and remember to get tested if you’re symptomatic, or if potentially exposed to COVID-19, regardless of your vaccination status.
- COVID-19 Testing Event Tuesday: The next Loudoun County-sponsored COVID-19 testing event will be held tomorrow, Tuesday, November 30, 2021, 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Franklin Park, 17501 Franklin Park Drive, Purcellville. The drive-thru events are free and open to all. Required registration forms can be filled out ahead of time. You can find links to the forms as well as a schedule of testing events online at loudoun.gov/COVID19testing.
- Who Should Get Tested? Health officials encourage anyone, regardless of vaccination status, who thinks they may have been exposed to COVID-19 to get tested as well as anyone exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, such as fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue and a new loss of taste or smell. In addition, anyone who traveled for the Thanksgiving holiday is also encouraged to get tested a few days after traveling or gathering in groups.
- December Testing Schedule: As we reported earlier today, Loudoun County has announced the schedule of COVID-19 testing events for December 2021. They will be held every Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., at various locations in the county.
