Crews working on the expansion and renovation project for the Sterling Community Center recently completed the installation of outdoor retaining walls, sidewalks, stairs and handrails, and are preparing for the installation of landscaping. The Sterling Community Center building is undergoing renovations and an expansion that will add 2,000 square feet, improve access, and provide new outdoor spaces.
Inside of the building, work to install drywall partitions, doors, windows, flooring, ceilings, paint and lighting fixtures is ongoing. In the next several weeks, the start-up and testing of mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment will begin.
The project, which will expand the 18,700 square-foot community center facility in Sterling, includes improving the entrances to the center, enlarging the gymnasium, renovating the outdoor pavilion, adding an outdoor amphitheater, creating new patio and lawn areas, and expanding the teen recreation area.
During the renovation, the center is providing services at an adjacent county-owned property at 150 Enterprise Street.
