Loudoun County Update
- Next Step in COVID-19 Vaccine Approval for 12- to-15-Year-Olds: Now that the Food and Drug Administration has approved the use of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 12-to-15, the next step in the process is set to occur tomorrow, Wednesday, May 12, 2021, when the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) is meeting to discuss using the vaccine in adolescents. If the ACIP recommends the vaccine for this age group and the CDC director adopts the recommendations, the CDC is likely to issue guidance fairly quickly to state health departments regarding the use of the vaccine for 12- to-15-year-olds. Following the CDC approval, the Virginia Department of Health is expected to authorize Loudoun and other health districts in the state to begin vaccinating individuals ages 12 and older. Loudoun County hopes to have authorization to vaccinate children ages 12 to 15 by the end of this week.
- What You Can Do When You’ve Been Fully Vaccinated: If you have been fully vaccinated (two weeks after completing your vaccine series), you can start doing many things that you stopped doing because of the pandemic. For example:
