Loudoun County Update

• Parental Consent for Minors Receiving COVID-19 Vaccine: While any Loudoun resident age 16 and older may now pre-register for a COVID-19 vaccine, it is important to note that anyone under the age of 18 has to have a parent or guardian with them at the vaccination site at the time of their appointment in order to receive the vaccine. 
  • To pre-register, visit vaccinate.virginia.gov. Note that the fastest method for receiving a vaccination appointment is to include a unique email address in separate pre-registration forms for each individual who will receive a vaccine.
  • Those without internet access may call  or call 877-VAX-IN-VA (877-829-4682).
• V-Safe After Vaccination Health Checker: V-safe is the smartphone-based tool that uses text messaging and web surveys to provide personalized health check-ins after you receive a COVID-19 vaccine. Through v-safe, you can quickly tell the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) if you have any side effects after getting the COVID-19 vaccine. Depending on your answers, someone from CDC may call to check on you and get more information. V-safe is available in English, Korean, simplified Chinese, Spanish, and Vietnamese. • COVID-19 Funeral Assistance: The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is now processing applications for financial assistance for funeral expenses incurred after Jan. 20, 2020, for deaths related to COVID-19. To be eligible for funeral assistance, applicants must meet these conditions:
  • The death must have occurred in the United States. The applicant must be a U.S. citizen, non-citizen national or qualified alien who incurred funeral expenses after Jan. 20, 2020.
  • The death certificate must indicate the death was attributed to COVID-19.
  • There is no requirement for the deceased person to have been a U.S. citizen, non-citizen national or qualified alien.

    • FEMA advises that they are experiencing a high volume of calls, which is causing some technical issues. Callers should try again later if they get a busy signal. There is no deadline to apply.

• Next COVID-19 Testing Event is April 20: Loudoun County's next COVID-19 testing event will be held Tuesday, April 20, 2021, 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., at the Dulles South Recreation & Community Center in South Riding. The county is holding free, drive-thru COVID-19 testing events on Tuesdays in April. More information, including the complete schedule of events, is online at loudoun.gov/COVID19testing.
