Loudoun County Update
Loudoun County publishes COVID-19 Vaccine Update.
Health Department’s ability to schedule more COVID-19 vaccination appointments continues to be limited by the amount of vaccine received each week. E
arlier today, we published an extensive update on the current situation regarding vaccinations in Loudoun County. Key items covered include:
Vaccine Pre-screening Survey List:
The list of people who have submitted pre-screening surveys has grown to more than 60,000 people, and we are receiving more pre-screening surveys each day. It will be several weeks before most of these people will be offered a vaccination appointment,

Phase 1a and 1b of Virginia' vaccination plan
. Loudoun is currently focused on these groups:
Health care personnel
Residents of long-term care facilities (handled by pharmacies)
People age 65 and older
People age 16–64 with underlying health conditions
Front-line essential workers
Police, fire and hazmat
Corrections and homeless shelter workers
Child Care/PreK-12 teachers/staff
Current Status of Waitlist
: We continue to work through the backlog of requests for vaccination appointments as quickly as possible. We are still making appointments based on the priority groups and the date that requests were received for individuals who submitted requests during the week of January 11. The wait for a vaccination appointment is expected to be long--6 weeks or more.
How Vaccine is Distributed
: The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) is currently receiving about 105,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine each week from the federal government. VDH currently allocates the available doses of vaccine based on the population of each health district. Loudoun County has been receiving about 4,800 doses per week based on our population (this does not include allocations for second doses).

Next COVID-19 testing events are February 9 & 11.
Loudoun County's free COVID-19 testing events will continue next week on February 9 and 11, at Philip A. Bolen Memorial Park in Leesburg. The events are from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and are being held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at multiple locations through February. Details, including a complete schedule and links to registration forms, are available at

. The stress of providing care for loved ones has increased during the COVID-19 pandemic The Loudoun County Area Agency on Aging is offering free, virtual education and support to ease that stress. Upcoming topics include "Legal Planning for Older Adults and Caregivers,” “Caregiving From a Distance During a Healthcare Crisis,” and "How to Talk to Your Parents About the Future More Comfortably."
