How you can help our community during COVID-19
Posted on May 15, 2020 at 9:46 AM by Emily Watkins
During this time of community need, residents, businesses and government are joining together to respond. We’ve pulled together some suggestions for what you can do to help.
Make donations to local community-based organizations.
Loudoun County Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) distribution
The shortage of personal protective equipment, or PPE, has been a hot topic throughout the COVID-19 crisis. It’s essential for front-line workers to have supplies like disposable gowns, face shields, gloves, and medical grade masks and respirators to protect themselves from getting sick and continue to care for those who need them most.
Loudoun County is accepting monetary donations to put toward the purchase of bulk
personal protective equipment to distribute to Loudoun-based care facilities with critical needs. This includes long-term care facilities who are taking care of some of those most vulnerable to COVID-19, such as older adults.

Community Funds and Service Providers
Loudoun has an excellent network of non-profits who are stepping up to support the community during this time of need. On our website, you can find a
list of community funds and organizations
that help fill our community’s most basic needs: food, rent, utility bills, medical expenses, and more.
If you love Loudoun’s restaurants, breweries, and wineries, consider giving to the
Loudoun Tourism & Hospitality Relief Fund
. This fund will specifically help Loudoun’s restaurant and tasting room employees; housekeeping and hotels staff; agritourism workers; event and attraction staff.
Join the Medical Reserve Corps.
The Loudoun Medical Reserve Corps is looking for volunteers who want to help the Loudoun County Health Department protect the public’s health during the COVID-19 pandemic. No medical experience is necessary.
Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) volunteers, both nonmedical and medical, are key to supporting the Health Department in staffing emergency mass vaccination and medication dispensing clinics in select locations throughout the county.
Nonmedical volunteers would perform key clinic roles such as registration, data entry, language translation, medical personnel assistance, and directing foot traffic.
MRC members can also assist with other public health responses in our community and have the opportunity to be trained in CPR and first aid if they so desire.
