On or about May 19, 2023, weather permitting, Belmont Ridge Road northbound and southbound traffic will be switched on to new roadway alignments between Reservoir Ridge Place and Truro Parish Drive. Lanes will continue to be a single lane in each direction using both new temporary crossover lanes and newly paved travel lanes. Drivers should use extra caution when traveling through this area and follow all directions from the posted signs and road crews.
Access to and from Waxpool Road at Belmont Ridge Road will be closed from Friday evening, May 19, 2023, beginning at 8:00 p.m. to Monday morning, May 22, 2023, at 5:00 a.m. Drivers should follow the detour to enter and exit from Waxpool Road to Belmont Ridge Road. See detour diagram (PDF). This work is weather dependent and is subject to rescheduling to a future weekend.
This project reconstructs and widens Belmont Ridge Road between Truro Parish Drive and Croson Lane from the existing two-lane rural road to a modern four-lane, median-divided, suburban roadway, with shared-use paths for pedestrians and bicyclists on each side. Project benefits include alleviating traffic in the corridor, providing active transportation solutions, and connecting commuters to major activity and employment centers.
Funding for this regionally significant project is from Loudoun County, Northern Virginia Transportation Authority (NVTA) and the state’s Revenue Sharing Program administered by Loudoun County’s - Department of Transportation and Capital Infrastructure and VDOT’s oversight-Locally Administered Projects (LAP) program. Construction is expected to be completed by summer 2024.
