Interior finish work is progressing at the new Sterling Park Safety Center in Sterling, Va. Crews have completed installing interior doors and hardware, and kitchen and bath cabinetry. Crews have also recently completed installing the apparatus bay doors, stormwater management and information technology systems. When completed, the Sterling Volunteer Fire and Rescue Companies will use the new 22,000 square foot facility to provide services for the Sterling community.
This project is in the construction phase, currently estimated for completion in spring 2023. During construction, the station is being run out of a temporary facility at the same location. When construction is substantially complete, the facility will be turned over to the Sterling Volunteer Fire & Rescue Companies for operation. More information about Loudoun County Capital Projects and phases is provided at loudoun.gov/capitalprojects.
The new Fire and Rescue facility will replace the previous 8,772-square-foot building on this site dating from 1970 and provide more storage and parking. The one-acre property will also expand by a third of an acre. Features of the facility will include a reception area, meeting and training rooms, bunk rooms, a kitchen, an exercise room, offices, apparatus bays, and storage space for equipment and gear.
