In the last several weeks, crews working on the Waterford Mill Stabilization Project in the Village of Waterford completed attic floor repairs and painted the building’s roof and dormers. Interior and exterior masonry work continues, including repairs to the water wheel pit and first floor. In the coming weeks, crews will continue interior carpentry work and repairs to the windows and sashes throughout the building. Reconstruction of the historic Hurst Frame is ongoing at an offsite location.
This project provides for the structural stabilization of the Waterford Mill and the addition of accessibility features to allow the use of the mill for educational and cultural enrichment programs. Construction is estimated to be complete in summer 2023.

Construction is progressing on the Waterford Mill Restoration Project in the Village of Waterford. Crews working to stabilize and restore the historic mill have begun interior masonry and carpentry work. In the last several weeks, crews began rebuilding the stone wall which will serve as support for the mill’s framing. Work to shape the timbers that will serve as the mill’s framing is also underway.
This project provides for the structural stabilization of the Waterford Mill and the addition of accessibility features to allow the use of the mill for educational and cultural enrichment programs. Construction is estimated to be complete in summer 2023.

Construction is underway for the Waterford Mill Restoration Project in the Village of Waterford, Va. Loudoun County’s construction project to stabilize and restore the historic mill began in October with staging and soil control. In the last several weeks, crews deconstructed and removed the mill’s framing for repairs, removed flooring on the first floor, and removed the water wheel and axle. Work to install support bracing and excavate the basement floor and wheel pit has begun.
This project provides for the structural stabilization of the Waterford Mill and the addition of accessibility features to allow the use of the mill for educational and cultural enrichment programs. Construction is estimated to be complete in summer 2023.
