Loudoun County takes part in the region's annual Bike to Work Day, which normally occurs on the third Friday in May. New and experienced bicycle riders are encouraged to participate.
Loudoun County typically hosts two pit stop celebrations adjacent to the Washington and Old Dominion Trail in Leesburg and Sterling where registrants can pick-up free T-shirts, receive giveaways, enjoy refreshments, and win prizes.
Bike to Work Day is coordinated regionally by the Washington Area Bicyclist Association and the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments. The event is held rain or shine. The number of local participants has grown to more than 500. The local festivities are planned by Loudoun County Commuter Services.
It's not too early to think about Bike to Work Day 2019! Anyone seeking more information may email Judy Galen of Loudoun County Commuter Services, who coordinates the event locally, or call 703-737-8044.
