In April 2014, the Board of Supervisors approved an ordinance to establish a new Chapter of the Codified Ordinances of Loudoun County: Combined Fire and Rescue System with an effective date of July 1, 2015. The Board also approved the hiring of an Assistant Chief for Support Services and Volunteer Administration within the Department of Fire, Rescue and Emergency Management.

The Board of Supervisors took action on the issue on July 17, 2013. The Copy Teste, which describes the Boards action, is online as is the County Administrator’s Loudoun Combined Fire and Rescue System Stakeholders Group (CFRSG) Recommendations Report, and the item prepared for the Board meeting. Also online is a survey conducted by the CFRSG of members of the Loudoun Fire-Rescue system. The survey results indicate broad support for the proposed reforms.
