The control of communicable diseases is a key means by which the Loudoun County Health Department works to ensure the health and well-being of its residents. This is accomplished through:
Administering immunizations for vaccine-preventable diseases
Investigating potential epidemic or outbreak situations
Surveillance of diseases and following-up on reportable diseases
Testing and treating for tuberculosis and sexually-transmitted infections
The department also works to manage environmental public health issues, including vector control and food protection.
Loudoun residents are encouraged to contact the Health Department with any questions or concerns about communicable diseases in our county by calling 703-737-8474. View the following for information on specific infections and related information in the A-Z Index of Communicable Diseases.
